Artlink 9:2

Issue 9:2 | June 1989

This special issue of Artlink takes a look at the field of public art in Australia and projects and strategies involved with integrating art with the built environment. The relationship of urban surroundings to mental and physical well-being is one which is beginning to be understood, with the result that planners and architects are beginning to consult with public health workers. The WHO Healthy Cities program described by Dr Ilona Kiekbusch represents pioneer work in this field.
We are grateful to Foundation South Australia who have recognised public art as a health related issue and have generously supported the extra costs associated with this special issue.
